Overview
This position may require working a flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends. Must be able to work other than normal hours and be available to work as scheduled based upon the needs of the department. May be required to work in outdoor elements such as sun, heat and rain.
Responsibilities- Responsible for observing participant behaviors inside pool area and surrounding area recognizing escalating individuals and groups of individuals, evaluating and interceding as needed including calling 911 to maintain a safe environment for participants and staff.
- Assists pool staff with Department of Recreation rules enforcement.
- Walks the pool deck and communicates effectively with pool patrons and staff.
- Assists in emergencies according to the facility emergency action plan.
- Assists in gate monitor with customer service, revenue collection and gate admittance procedures.
- Must have current or be able to pass American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer / AED and First Aid certifications.
- Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) or Private Security Training Certification preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older. Age 21 or older preferred.
- Must wear Department of Recreation staff wear and maintain a clean and positive demeanor and appearance.
- Attend pool monitor training session at preseason training, and on-site pool training.
- Must be able to obtain Department required CPR and First Aid Training, American Red Cross CPR/PR/AED, Bloodborne, and First Aid certifications.
- Previous Security Experience Preferred.

- Must wear assigned Department of Recreation staff uniform and maintain a clean appearance and positive demeanor.
- Must be willing to take direction from supervisors and managers.
- Must follow Department of Recreation rules, regulations and guidelines, especially those relating to safety and customer service.
- This position may require working a flexible schedule which may include evenings, weekends.
- Environmental Conditions:
Outdoor weather conditions with little to no temperature control; sun exposure; may be exposed to extreme heat, cold, wind, and rain. - Works on uneven and/or slippery surfaces and may be exposed to hazardous conditions/situations and substances.
- Duties include maintaining physical condition for sitting, standing, and walking for prolonged periods and may require light to moderate lifting.
- Reaching, pulling, and carrying; manual dexterity; and audiovisual and linguistic acuity required.
