Overview
NATURE OF WORK:
To perform a variety of indoor and outdoor duties and support to St. Monica's Recreation Center relating to the property and facility.
- Serves as a representative of the St. Monica's Recreation Center; demonstrating a positive attitude and actions through the display of professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with children, other employees, and the public.
- Oversees the overall beauty and cleanliness of the property and facilities.
- Monitors property for safety and cleanliness.
- Maintains grounds and facilities through repair, cleaning, and landscaping.
- Collaborates with other staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Assists with special indoor and outdoor events as needed.
- Works mostly independently.
- Shares cleaning responsibilities when other cleaning staff are absent.
- Administers basic first aid procedures and notifies emergency medical personnel and/or family when necessary. Completes Accident Report Form and gives to Supervisor.
- Attends all staff meetings participating in discussions related to rules, work-related problems, upcoming activities/events, etc.
- Performs other related duties as required or when asked by Supervisor.
- Knowledge of landscaping and outdoor maintenance.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous activities even during adverse weather conditions.
- Familiarity with safely operating equipment such as tractors, mowers, chainsaws, etc.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair minor equipment issues.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
- Skilled in greeting and assisting the public, kids and staff in a professional manner.
- Skilled in cleaning thoroughly and independently.
- Skilled in interacting with people of different social, economic and ethnic backgrounds.
- Skilled in following verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of cleaning and housekeeping equipment (mop, vacuum, floor machine) as well as landscaping and lawn equipment (mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws).
- Listening and speaking.
- Ability to communicate with other individuals (staff, children, volunteers, parents, etc.).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include some weekends and holidays.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Any combination of training and experience which will indicate the possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities listed above.
- First Aid and CPR certification are preferred.
- Must be honest, dependable, trustworthy, and meet attendance requirements which include arriving on time, working entire scheduled shift and complying with Center's call-in notification procedures.
Salary: $18.00 per hour
