Description

The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes in accordance with the mission of the facility. Prepare patients for surgical procedures, monitors and cares for patients post‑operatively and prepares patients for discharge. Responsible for conducting business and patient care activities consistent with the hospital's policy for Patient's Rights and Responsibilities without discriminating against the individual because of sex, age, race, religion or any other potentially discriminating factor.

Responsible for the discrete and confidential handling of all patient information whether written or spoken, and to be ever vigilant and sensitive to where and how any patient information is shared.

Position Requirements / Experience
  • Current licensure to practice in the State of Ohio.
  • Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course; ACLS preferred and PALS preferred.
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in PACU, ICU or ER nursing.

  • Knowledge and experience in PACU nursing or critical care.

  • Positive interpersonal and customer relations skills via telephone and face‑to‑face interaction.

  • Ability to set priorities.

  • Ability to correlate clinical data with patient's medical and nursing care.
Essential Position Responsibilities
  • Assess and plan patient care to achieve identified outcomes.
  • Assess patient status on admission and on an ongoing basis.
  • Implement appropriate standards of care based on assessment data and patient's goals.
  • Coordinate nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and to ensure readiness for discharge.
  • Ensure provision of patient care daily in an organized and timely manner.
  • Adhere to all facility policies and procedures when providing patient care.
  • Utilize nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care.
  • Demonstrate ability to direct and provide for patient care in emergency situations.
  • Assess learning needs according to patient's level of understanding and readiness to learn.
  • Assume a leadership role in the provision of quality nursing care.
  • Analyze and monitor nursing care to ensure it meets standards.
  • Coordinate nursing care and assign responsibilities based on patient needs.
  • Assume charge nurse responsibility as assigned.
  • Make decisions concerning facility‑based problems.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in orientation and education of nursing staff.
  • Demonstrate competence in caring for individuals with age‑specific needs.
Environmental Conditions

Work is indoors in a climate‑controlled environment. Exposure to unpleasant odors, blood and body fluids that may carry infection, infectious disease, chemical and electrical hazards. Occasional exposure to outdoor climate.

Physical Requirements

Ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and feel objects. Ability to climb, pull, push, kneel, push a stretcher/wheelchair, lift/transfer patients in excess of 100 lbs, wear lead apron and push heavy equipment.

Degree Of Supervision Provided To Position

Minimal. Must be self‑directed and able to work independently.
