Full Time Split Shift - Bethesda North Hospital

This position applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families. The position also collaborates, in a collegial manner, with physicians and other health care team members in meeting the patient’s needs. This position may delegate certain aspects of care to those under their direct supervision, within the scope of nursing practice.

• Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing
• New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) ACLS/PALS may be required but is dependent on unit or department.
• Registered Nurse licensure.
• Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs at various stages of the life cycle.
• Up to 1 year Clinical experience in Nursing.

• Demonstrates organizational responsibilities, identifies areas for self‑improvement through self‑assessment and peer review, functions in roles, and provides leadership on the unit as needed.
• Cooperates with instructor to facilitate learning experiences for students, demonstrates knowledge and supports organizational and unit changes, supports activities such as committees, staff meetings, and councils.
• Utilizes chain of command appropriately, builds collegial relationships with physicians and other health team members, demonstrates autonomy in identifying opportunities for process improvement.
• Evaluates the plan of care for patient based on optimal specific patient outcomes, documents patient/family response to care including teaching, collaborates and revises the plan of care as needed.
• Supervises the care that was delegated to other health care team members.
• Implements plan of care, provides a safe and therapeutic environment while maintaining patient’s autonomy, dignity, and rights, determines plan of care based on ethical principles, acts as patient advocate, delivers care in a non‑judgmental and non‑discriminatory manner.
• Prioritizes workload according to patient’s needs, recognizes emergency situations, notifies appropriate personnel, and initiates emergency measures.
• Performs initial and ongoing assessment of patient and family, completes assessment tools, documents ongoing assessment per unit/Tri Health guidelines, communicates assessment findings to other health care providers, includes health counseling and teaching needs.
• Performs technical skills according to policy and procedure and accepted standards, safely administers medications/treatments, monitors effects, uses all equipment safely.
• Plans care based on assessment, standards of care, and optimal specific outcomes, initiates and individualizes appropriate patient care guidelines/plan of care or clinical pathways, updates plan of care, develops short and long‑term goals with patient/family and healthcare team, including discharge planning, communicates plan of care to others.
