Job Overview
This position applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families. The position also collaborates, in a collegial manner, with physicians and other health care team members in meeting the patient's needs. This position may delegate certain aspects of care to those under their direct supervision, within the scope of nursing practice.

FTE: Full Time (1.0 FTE; 40 hrs/week)

- Associate's Degree - Nursing (Required)
- New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire. (Required)
- Up to 1 year Clinical in Nursing experience (Required)
- Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs at various stages of the life cycle
- Registered Nurse Required
- ACLS PALS may be required but is dependent on unit or department Preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
- Demonstrates organizational responsibilities and identifies areas for self‑improvement through self‑assessment and peer review.
- Functions in roles and provides leadership on the unit as needed and requested, cooperating with instructors to facilitate learning experiences for students.
- Demonstrates knowledge and supports organizational and unit changes, participating in committees, staff meetings, and councils.
- Builds collegial relationships with physicians and other health team members and identifies opportunities for process improvement.
- Evaluates and documents the plan of care for patients, collaborating with the patient, family, and the health care team, including physicians.
- Supervises the care delegated to other health care team members and implements the plan of care in a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Acts as a patient advocate, delivers care in a non‑judgmental, non‑discriminatory manner and seeks resources to formulate ethical decisions.
- Prioritizes workload, recognizes emergency situations, notifies appropriate personnel, and initiates emergency measures.
- Performs initial and ongoing assessment of patients and families, documents findings, and communicates assessment to the health care team.
- Performs technical skills according to policy, procedures, and accepted standards; safely administers medications and monitors effects.
- Develops short and long‑term goals with patient, family, and team including discharge planning and communicates plan to others.
