Job Overview

The APRN II is a graduate‑level nurse authorized to practice and prescribe as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Certified Nurse Practitioner in collaboration with physicians or podiatrists. Responsibilities include assessment of patient health status, diagnostic testing, development of treatment plans, follow‑up care, accurate documentation, and patient advocacy. APRNs function at client, personnel, and organizational levels and must collaborate with a physician under a Standard Care Arrangement.

The APRN II must spend 50% of hours working with prescriptive authority.

Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborate and consult with the interdisciplinary health‑care team, patients, and families to diagnose, prioritize problems, and implement interventions.
  • Provide consultation, initiate referrals, and promote teamwork across the health‑care team.
  • Assist team members, patients, and families in selecting therapies that balance cost and quality benefits.
  • Provide effective leadership by integrating cost–benefit analysis into clinical decisions, designing innovative solutions for patient‑care problems, and applying evidence‑based practice (EBP) guidelines.
  • Participate in health‑care decision‑making at system, local, state, and national levels, and lead or serve on committees, councils, and administrative teams.
  • Utilize, participate in, and disseminate research, evidence‑based practice, or quality‑improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes; serve as investigator or team member on research projects.
  • Critically evaluate existing practice, integrate research findings into clinical practice through EBP projects, and lead or participate in quality‑improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and educate patients, families, and health‑care providers to promote best practice; serve as a teacher, mentor, and role model to staff nurses and students.
  • Ensure nursing practice is ethical and legal, adhering to the Ohio Scope of Practice. Provide safe, compassionate, and competent care, advocate for patients, and facilitate palliative care discussions when appropriate.
  • At least 50% of the position involves direct patient and/or family care: perform history and physical examinations, prescribe drugs and devices per the Ohio Revised Code, assess pharmacologic interactions, order and interpret lab and radiologic tests, and collaborate with physicians on comprehensive care plans.
Job Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Graduate from an NP, CNS, or midwife program.
  • Specialty certification in the area of expertise.
  • Registered Nurse with APRN licensure.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a clinical specialization.
  • Professional membership in a specialty nursing organization required within one year of the start date.
  • 3–4 years of clinical nursing experience in geriatric, occupational health, or other applicable settings.
Working Conditions

Physically demanding job requiring occasional climbing, kneeling, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and frequent standing or walking. Requires consistent concentration, interpersonal communication, and continuous learning.
