Overview
Prospect Development & Research Manager is a key member of the Operations team and serves as a strategic liaison to the Major Gifts team. This role is responsible for delivering donor prospect research, portfolio strategy, and data‑driven insights that support fundraising growth, pipeline expansion, and successful campaign execution. The position partners closely with frontline fundraisers, advancement leadership, Network leadership, and volunteer leaders to ensure a robust, well‑managed donor pipeline and accurate forecasting of philanthropic revenue.
ResponsibilitiesProspect Research & Strategy: Conduct proactive and reactive research on donors, prospective donors, and grateful patients using internal and external sources. Synthesize complex data from multiple sources into clear, actionable prospect strategies that inform cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts. Create and maintain comprehensive donor profiles for top prospects, tailored for executive leadership, board members, and the Major Gifts team.
Prospect Management & Portfolio Support: Manage the identification, qualification, and assignment of new donors and prospects, ensuring appropriate movement across giving levels and the expansion of the major gift pipeline. Oversee the strategic movement of prospects from Annual giving into the Major Gift portfolio and, as appropriate, into principal or campaign‑level engagement. Lead monthly prospect review and assignment meetings with the Major Gifts team to align strategy, capacity, and engagement plans.
Forecasting, Analytics & Reporting: Partner with organizational leadership and the Major Gifts team to support accurate revenue forecasting and pipeline modeling for annual, multi‑year, and campaign initiatives. Serve as the primary steward of prospect‑related data in the donor database, ensuring consistent data entry practices and accurate, up‑to‑date records. Develop and distribute detailed prospect and portfolio reports that support fundraising strategy, forecasting, and leadership decision‑making.
Partner with the operations team to continuously improve prospect tracking, reporting, and analytics.
Collaboration: Act as a trusted advisor to fundraisers, providing insight, context, and guidance on complex donor prospect strategies and the management of a comprehensive portfolio of donors. Manage highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Respond effectively to unanticipated, complex issues related to prospect strategy or data integrity.
Additional Support: Support special projects and cross‑functional initiatives as needed. Perform other duties as assigned in support of organizational and Network priorities.

3–5 years of experience.
Required Skills and Knowledge: Accuracy, accountability, professionalism and courtesy are required skills due to interactions with administrators, physicians, board members, donors, and community leaders. Writing skills are important. Expert competency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong organizational skills, ability to multi‑task, and ability to remain calm under pressure are vital.
