Federal Equipment Company has been a leading supplier for marine deck machinery and specialized weapons and material handling systems. Through the years the company has emerged into an internationally recognized organization with extensive expertise in marine design/engineering and manufacturing of critical shipboard systems. The company, now part of Fairbanks Morse Defense, is rapidly growing and in need of a Manufacturing Engineer.
This position performs complex analytical work with and coordinate other Engineering professionals, FEC associates, customers, and vendors.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and implementing manufacturing processes. This includes developing, participating in and leading process improvements, cost and production analysis, and improving quality control.
This position is responsible for identifying, developing and implementing manufacturing strategies that support our weld shop, machine shop, and assembly team to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective. This position is also responsible for developing process documentation, including work instructions, and departmental procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T to determine machining strategies
- Optimize manufacturing processes for quality and efficiency
- Design, or source proper tooling, fixtures, and processes for each job
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to refine manufacturing processes
- Guide and train team members on manufacturing procedures and best practices
- Enter and edit BOMs and routers into ERP system; print work order packets
- Is willing to help other ME maximize product cycle times
- Conduct ROI and IRR for production savings projects
- Design fixtures for new products
- Associate degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience in manufacturing / production environment
- Experience writing / developing work instructions and procedures
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and optimize production
- Knowledge of machining, welding, and large size hand assembly desired
- Ability to work with tight tolerances in a high-precision environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional team
Travel:
Less than 5%
