Maintenance Generalist

Hours for this position: 3rd shift 10:30 to 7:30 rotating schedule, 3‑day weekend every 5 weeks. You will earn an extra $2.75 per hour for working the specified schedule.
Starting salary: $26.20 to $37.45 per hour, depending on skills and experience. Pay may increase through skill‑level advancement.

• Provide maintenance support with moderate supervision to ensure the safe and effective operation of equipment and team.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic plant equipment.
• Conduct emergency mechanical or electrical repairs as needed.
• Troubleshoot issues related to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned production equipment.
• Effectively interact with all plant personnel to accomplish plant and individual goals.
• Minimize downtime due to equipment failure.
• Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Must be able and willing to furnish your own tools.

• Education and Experience: Minimum 2 years of mechanic work experience documented in the application history or a graduate of an industrial maintenance training program (can combine experiences as long as at least 2 years).

  Computer skills for logging information, processing daily work orders, and completing required documentation. Ability to learn and use the CMMS.
• Effective communication and basic math skills.
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally; lift 20 lbs. frequently.
• Stand on a hard surface up to 12 hours per day.
• Work in confined/tall spaces, walk, climb, use a ladder, operate a lift, bend, stoop.
• Repetitive gripping, pushing, pulling.
• Frequent overhead work.
• Temperatures inside plant may vary from −25° to over 100°; outside work may also be needed.
• Basic math skills, including percentages, fractions, and measurements.
• Read and understand blueprints, manuals, and work orders.

Applicants will be considered for General Maintenance level openings. Leveling is determined during the interview process based on skillset, knowledge, and experience.

Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 90 days and are limited to 3 previous employment periods.
