Job Summary

As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining the excellence of our SQF-certified food manufacturing facility. The Maintenance Technician will perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment while acting as a technical support resource and providing a multi-skilled service for our production team. The Maintenance Technician will be tasked to support their own projects/improvements to be completed in support of a facility that operates 24 hours a day, 5 days a week.

This role will report directly to the Maintenance Shift Supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install, maintain, and repair all necessary equipment, verifying and testing all repairs to ensure they are completed with quality and accuracy.
  • Adequately utilize electronic equipment and software (i.e. PC, phone, email, CMMS, etc.).
  • Maintain facility and equipment throughout the plant; consisting of, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
  • Proactively identify issues and opportunities for improvement and utilize the CMMS system to document them, i.e., write a Work Order (WO).
  • Comply with work, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update records accurately and timely, including but not limited to, WO’s, PM’s, Call Log’s, Shift Reports, adding parts, labor, notes, pics, status changes, etc.
  • Self-motivated to stay consistently busy throughout shift helping to impact change and improvement, while potentially working independently in a mature and professional manner.
  • Maintain positive working relationship with all departments and sustain constant communication within the shift and department.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) while working indoors and/or outdoors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (food processing equipment experience desirable).
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning skills to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Strong pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and industrial skills; experience with PLC's and VFD's.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to attendance.
  • Ability to perform duties independently or with minimal supervision while maintaining a high degree of integrity.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes on the production line.
Physical Requirements
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination.
  • Able to work in a warehouse with temperatures that can range from
    -10°F to above-normal heat conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally above shoulder height.
  • Ability to work in an environment with flashing lights, horns, and powered moving equipment operating in proximity.
  • Prolonged periods sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines.
