Calibration Technician Team Lead – Your RoleAs the Calibration Technician Team Lead you will provide leadership and supervision to the calibration technician team and will be responsible for the performance and efficiency of the calibration team. You will perform a variety of moderately complex tasks, including test equipment maintenance, assembly tasks, system tests and calibrations, and will follow calibration lab best practices while ensuring compliance with ISO 17025, ISO 16063, and ANSIZ 540 through A2LA accreditation.
Responsibilities- Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing team, providing clear direction, ongoing feedback and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Manage personnel functions such as hiring, training, conducting performance evaluations, addressing performance concerns and ensuring policies and procedures are being followed.
- Work with MSQS Leadership Team Representative to lead the 17025‑accreditation process, coordinating and supporting internal and external audits of all in‑scope calibration activities.
- Perform all job duties of the Calibration Technician I‑III.
- Follow all TMS procedures and forms in compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025.
- Perform moderately complex electrical, mechanical and environmental maintenance on in‑house test equipment.
- Perform moderately complex electrical, mechanical and environmental tests and calibrations on TMS products and other manufacturer products.
- Calibrate sensors and equipment using delegated stations, compare test results with manufacturer specifications, and report any out‑of‑spec results.
- Operate and maintain the laser primary calibration system and maintain record‑keeping of in‑house calibration equipment.
- Verify that all tested or calibrated products meet specifications, monitor and log environmental conditions during calibrations, and ensure calibration equipment is within calibration cycle.
- Understand and use proper ESD procedures as outlined in the ESD procedure.
- Oversee the training and development of calibration technicians, track progress, and submit reports and records to the Quality Leader.
- Provide input to the development of testing procedures, equipment or automated testing programs; suggest new test procedures or equipment as needed.
- Work with the Quality team to ensure all equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
- Ensure all safety precautions are followed per department guidelines when operating test equipment, promote safety and cleanliness, and maintain equipment.
- Interface with Planning, RMA and Rental teams to coordinate team resources and prioritize to meet demands.
- Act as liaison between the calibration team and engineering to develop procedures, solve problems and troubleshoot equipment.
- Maintain metrics related to productivity, accuracy and timeliness; develop and execute plans to achieve target goals and implement approved suggestions to improve.
- Provide input for proficiency testing reports and manage technician training files, ensuring qualifications, certifications and recurrent training are accurately maintained and audit‑ready.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or needed for the efficient operation of the team.
