Position Overview

The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of cannabis inventory management within a licensed dispensary under the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control (DCC). This role ensures that all product movement—from receipt to sale—is accurately tracked, documented, and compliant with state regulations, company policies, and Metrc requirements. The Inventory Manager leads the inventory team, ensures operational efficiency, and safeguards the integrity of all cannabis products throughout the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Control & Compliance

  • Oversee all inventory operations, including receiving, intake, storage, fulfillment, and product destruction.
  • Verify all incoming shipments for accuracy, quality, and compliance with DCC and company standards.
  • Ensure all inventory adjustments, transfers, and reconciliations are accurately recorded in Metrc and the POS system.
  • Maintain real‑time inventory accuracy and ensure product labeling, storage, and packaging meet regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct and review daily, weekly, and monthly inventory audits to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for inventory‑related inspections, audits, and compliance inquiries.

Team Leadership & Training

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate Inventory Specialists and other inventory staff.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all inventory functions.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to ensure staff adherence to compliance, accuracy, and efficiency standards.
  • Collaborate with management to create training programs for cross‑departmental inventory awareness.

Data Integrity & Reporting

  • Generate and analyze inventory reports, variance summaries, and trend insights for management review.
  • Ensure all documentation—including manifests, intake logs, discrepancy reports, and destruction records—is accurate and audit‑ready.
  • Review Metrc data for accuracy and completeness, ensuring full traceability from vendor to point of sale.
  • Report and document all discrepancies, product recalls, or compliance issues immediately to the General Manager and DCC when applicable.

Operational Efficiency & Retail Support

  • Coordinate product flow between vault, fulfillment, and sales floor to ensure consistent stock levels and presentation.
  • Implement inventory optimization strategies to minimize shrinkage and maximize turnover.
  • Work closely with the General Manager to plan inventory for promotions, high‑volume days, and new product launches.
  • Partner with the compliance and security teams to ensure all inventory processes meet state and internal security standards.

Safety, Security & Compliance Execution

  • Ensure secure handling of all products within restricted and surveillance‑covered areas.
  • Maintain compliance with DCC safety, sanitation, and waste disposal standards.
  • Participate in security audits and coordinate with IT or maintenance staff on surveillance integrity and access control.
Qualifications
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of inventory, supply chain, or logistics management experience (cannabis industry preferred).
  • In‑depth knowledge of Metrc or equivalent seed‑to‑sale tracking software.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in POS systems, Microsoft Excel, and inventory management software.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed operational decisions.
  • Must pass a background check and fingerprinting per DCC requirements.
Working Conditions
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs regularly.
  • Work performed in secure and controlled environments with exposure to cannabis products and odors.
Why This Role Matters

The Inventory Manager ensures the integrity and compliance of the dispensary’s product inventory—protecting the company from regulatory risks while optimizing product availability and profitability. Through leadership, precision, and accountability, this position upholds the highest standards of compliance, transparency, and operational excellence in Ohio’s adult‑use cannabis market.
