trak group is partnering with a project-driven organization operating in a highly regulated environment to identify a Controller who will provide senior-level leadership across accounting and financial operations. This role requires deep expertise in percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting, a strong command of compliance and controls, and the ability to partner closely with executive leadership and operations in support of complex, long-term initiatives.
This is a strategic leadership opportunity for a Controller who brings both technical depth and business perspective, and who thrives in environments where rigor, accountability, and execution are critical.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership over all accounting and financial operations, including general ledger, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Oversee project-based accounting utilizing POC methodology
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements
- Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and governance standards
- Lead cash flow management, working capital planning, and financial strategy
- Serve as primary liaison for external audits and regulatory reviews
- Partner with executive and operational leaders to assess financial performance, risk, and trends
- Deliver financial insight to support strategic and operational decision-making
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting organization
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller-level responsibility
- Required industry experience in defense, aviation, engineering, or construction
- Demonstrated expertise in percentage-of-completion accounting
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance
- Proven people leadership and cross-functional partnership experience
- Ability to operate effectively in regulated, project-driven environments
- CPA or CMA
- ERP system experience
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities
- Senior leadership role with meaningful visibility and influence
