We are seeking a high-performance General Manager to lead and scale a semi-truck Repair Shop located in Ohio.
The Repair Shop currently generates $3.5M/year with 20% net profit
, serving both the company’s internal trucking fleet and external customers.
The GM will own the entire P&L, drive operational excellence, expand capacity, implement systems, elevate staff performance, and grow the business to $7–10M+ while improving profitability.
This is a leadership role for a candidate who has previously scaled a diesel/semi-truck repair shop
, understands heavy‑duty operations, and can build systems that run without owner dependency.
- Scale the business from $3.5M → $6–7M in the first year
- Achieve $7–10M+ by year 2–3
- Expand high‑margin services: diagnostics, DPF, mobile repair, mobile roadside, alignment, electrical
- Maintain minimum 20% EBITDA
- Increase to 25–30%+ through pricing, parts margin, labor optimization
- Improve technician productivity (billed hours)
- Reduce truck downtime
- Improve throughput (more jobs completed per day)
- Standardize processes across all repair categories
- Implement segmented invoicing: parts / labor / diagnostics / mobile
- Recruit, train, and manage technicians and support staff
- Create a repeatable operating system to open future locations
- Build KPIs and dashboards for daily accountability
1. Full P&L Leadership
- Own financial results: revenue, gross margin, labor costs, parts costs, and net profit
- Prepare weekly/monthly performance reports
- Set pricing strategy and enforce margin discipline
- Manage budget, forecasts, and cost controls
- Oversee all shop activities, workflow, and scheduling
- Ensure efficient use of service bays, mechanics, and equipment
- Improve job cycle time (intake → diagnosis → repair → invoicing)
- Establish SLAs and enforce standards
- Optimize sourcing of aftermarket parts
- Negotiate with suppliers for pricing and quality
- Manage inventory levels to reduce waste and carry cost
- Improve parts margin to target levels (25–35%)
- Manage team of 12 employees
- Recruit technicians, parts staff, service advisors
- Conduct performance reviews and enforce accountability
- Implement incentive programs tied to productivity and quality
- Maintain high satisfaction and repeat business
- Improve communication with fleet customers
- Reduce disputes by improving invoicing transparency
- Create proactive maintenance packages and fleet contracts
- Build relationships with local trucking companies
- Develop fleet maintenance programs
- Expand mobile repair and roadside assistance
- Prepare shop for a second location (after performance targets)
- 5–10+ years of leadership in a diesel, semi-truck, or heavy‑duty repair shop
- Past experience scaling a repair shop from $2–5M → $6–10M+
- Proven P&L responsibility for $3M+ operation
- Strong understanding of diesel mechanics, heavy‑duty parts, and shop workflow
- Experience implementing shop management software (Fullbay, Mitchell, Tekmetric, etc.)
- Strong financial and analytical skills
- High competency in process building
- Excellent leadership and team management
- Negotiation skills with parts suppliers
- Ability to enforce discipline and performance standards
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities
- Fluent Russian and English
