- Possesses, at a minimum, an 8th grade education.
- Is, at a minimum, sixteen (16) years of age.
- Is able to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language and follow written/oral instructions.
- Possesses sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Able and willing to work independently with flexibility and integrity, as well as effectively and harmoniously with team members, residents, family members, volunteers, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Is able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the community.
- Is willing to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
- Promotes resident safety.
- Ensures that all dishes, cooking utensils and other items from the kitchen and dining area are cleaned, stored in the appropriate locations, and ready to be utilized when needed.
- Sets up the team member breakroom with ice and condiments for coffee.
- Delivers meal carts and hot meal boxes to the units, as directed.
- Empties and cleans the dish machine between meals, making sure there is no food in the machine, including cleaning the outside of the machine.
- Breaks down boxes and takes out the trash to the dumpster.
- Sweeps and mops the kitchen floor.
- Assures that safety regulations are followed and reports any accidents, hazardous equipment, or conditions immediately.
- Performs stock room functions including checking stock to ensure all items are accounted for and undamaged; notifying the supervisor if there are damaged items that need to be returned; putting stock away in the appropriate place; and cleaning duties.
