We’re looking for a Technician Trainer who brings hands-on expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulics systems, paired with a genuine passion for teaching and developing technicians. Position Overview
Under the guidance of the Training Manager, the Technical Trainer is responsible for preparing and conducting training courses for internal and external technicians. Courses will involve technical training relating to the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of powered industrial forklifts and other equipment. This training will be conducted both at customer sites and Raymond Storage Concepts (RSCI) branch locations and will occasionally involve overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate training programs under the Technician Development Program, such as Technical Primer, Scheduled Maintenance, and Troubleshooting & Repair.
- Effectively conduct both classroom and hands-on training at various locations; training may include one-on-one, small and/or large group settings.
- Assist technicians in achieving technical competence and continuously develop their technical capabilities while diagnosing and correcting learning difficulties in a classroom setting.
- Partner with internal and external customers to develop strong relationships and ensure that training deliverables are met.
- Collaborate with other team members to plan and schedule training in accordance with goals and objectives to meet identified technical and/or safety training needs.
- Maintain applicable paperwork and documentation in a neat, organized and timely manner.
- Schedule and conduct operator safety training based upon requests of RSCI customers and in cooperation with other RSCI team members.
- Deliver a combination of lecture, demonstration, group exercise, and assessment of instructional effectiveness of trainees in training their operators.
- Maintain records of all training in accordance with applicable OSHA requirements.
- Assist customers in developing training programs specific to the type of forklift being operated and to the working conditions/environment in their facilities.
- Conduct ongoing operator safety training and re-certifications as necessary for RSCI employees.
- Learn and promote the product and service offerings of RSCI.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Travel:
Up to 30% travel during the first year, including occasional overnight stays. Travel is expected to decrease to approximately 10% in the second year. - High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong knowledge in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and general understanding of equipment operation required
- Ability to read and interpret electronic and hydraulic diagrams and schematics required
- Experience with training on and/or operating Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklift Classes I-VII, Aerial Work Platform, etc.)
- Experience in a prior technical training role is helpful
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Must have ability to work independently and manage time/priorities effectively
- Must have strong organizational skills
- Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor along with strong customer service skills
