Cloud Engineer; Security Focus

The Planet Group has partnered with a Cincinnati company to locate a Cloud Security engineer for a full‑time, onsite position.

This role focuses on strengthening security posture, mitigating risks, and driving best practices across multiple cloud platforms. We cannot work with candidates who require sponsorship now or in the future.

• Design, build, and manage secure, scalable cloud architectures with a focus on resiliency, compliance, and risk mitigation.
• Evaluate emerging security technologies and recommend enhancements to improve detection, prevention, and monitoring capabilities.
• Develop and implement engineering solutions to address control gaps and present recommendations to IT leadership.
• Partner with third‑party vendors to execute proofs of concept, pilots, and validation exercises.
• Conduct assessments of systems and networks to uncover vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and incident response activities to support security operations.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and network teams during solution design to ensure alignment with enterprise security policies.
• Stay current with evolving threats, regulatory requirements, and best practices in information security and risk management.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to cross‑functional project initiatives.
• Support project deployments that occasionally require after‑hours or weekend availability.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
• 7+ years of experience in IT with at least 4 years focused on information security or cloud security engineering.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, frameworks, and operational best practices.
• Deep knowledge of enterprise networking and infrastructure design.
• Proven experience serving as a subject matter expert (SME) for cloud security.
• Familiarity with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF).
• Advanced hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE).

• Relevant industry certifications such as GCP Professional Cloud Architect, Associate Cloud Engineer (ACE), or equivalent.
