Join Hixson Architecture Engineering Interiors as the IT Manager for the Cincinnati-based firm specializing in the design of complex industrial, workplace, and science & technology facilities for many of the nation’s leading companies. The IT Manager leads the day-to-day operations of Hixson’s technology environment, ensuring stability, security, and scalability across all systems and services. This individual will supervise two IT professionals, serve as the firm’s primary technical resource for server and network administration, and collaborate closely with the Director of Technology on firmwide initiatives involving infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical expertise with strong people skills. The IT Manager will partner with department leaders across the firm to understand operational needs, identify opportunities for improvement, and align technology solutions that enhance efficiency and project delivery.

• Supervise and mentor two IT team members, fostering professional growth, accountability, and collaboration.
• Serve as the department’s day-to-day operational leader and primary contact for technology-related needs firmwide.
• Promote a service-oriented IT culture that emphasizes responsiveness, communication, and teamwork.

• Manage and maintain Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, and backup/recovery systems.
• Oversee system patching, upgrades, and performance monitoring to ensure high availability and security.
• Administer file servers, storage, and user permissions to support project collaboration and data integrity.

• Maintain the firm’s LAN/WAN infrastructure, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks.
• Partner with cybersecurity vendors and the Director of Technology to enhance Hixson’s security posture and monitor vulnerabilities.
• Enforce IT policies and participate in incident response planning and mitigation.

• Provide tier-2 technical support and escalation management for complex issues.
• Ensure consistent delivery of excellent internal customer service to approximately 125 associates.
• Manage software licensing, hardware lifecycle, and technology vendor relationships.

• Collaborate with department heads to identify technology solutions that improve workflows, communication, and project performance.
• Recommend improvements in IT systems and processes to support business growth and innovation.
• Assist in annual IT budgeting, procurement, and long-term planning.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 5 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 3 years in a systems administration or leadership role.
• Experience supporting a professional services firm; A/E/C industry experience preferred but not required.

• Expertise in Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Windows Server, VMware, and backup systems.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and firewalls).
• Familiarity with security frameworks, MFA, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management.
• Experience with CAD/BIM environments (Revit, AutoCAD) a plus.
