We're looking for a hands-on leader who can manage a small team while remaining deeply involved in daily technical operations.
Our client is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Manager to plan, organize, and direct their infrastructure team while ensuring the stability, security, and performance of the organization's IT environment. This role oversees all aspects of network and server infrastructure, data communications, capacity planning, and technology strategy.
The ideal candidate is both a technical expert and an effective people leader
, able to guide team members while also rolling up their sleeves to contribute directly.
- Lead day-to-day IT infrastructure operations, ensuring projects and initiatives are delivered on time and to stakeholder expectations.
- Communicate clearly with leadership and key stakeholders to align on deliverables and timelines.
- Assign and manage project tasks across the team; motivate, coach, and evaluate team performance.
- Support the design and implementation of IT processes, procedures, and policies aligned with organizational strategy.
- Stay current on emerging technologies and assess their applicability within the environment; educate stakeholders on potential business impacts.
- Analyze network needs and contribute to architecture design, integration, and installation.
- Maintain servers, network hardware/software, peripherals, and related infrastructure.
- Partner with other departments to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Evaluate hardware and software needs and recommend improvements.
- Monitor systems for performance optimization and lead recovery efforts following failures.
- Develop and manage infrastructure budgets, including equipment lifecycle planning.
- Establish and manage system access, security standards, and policies.
- Lead business continuity/disaster recovery planning and coordinate testing.
- Oversee IT asset procurement.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide training, coaching, and mentorship to team members.
- Manage documentation standards and ensure accuracy across systems and processes.
- Support departmental quality improvement initiatives and communicate key updates proactively.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be comfortable with working onsite 5 days a week.
- 8-10+ years of technical and managerial experience in IT infrastructure.
- Must have 3-5+ years of direct leadership experience.
- Strong background in infrastructure and application support within an ITIL-based environment.
- 3+ years implementing and supporting VMware vSphere
. - 5+ years supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments.
- 2+ years supporting VMware Horizon VDI environments.
- 3+ years implementing and supporting SAN storage solutions.
- Experience with Microsoft Exchange and F5 Big-IP is preferred.
- Proven experience managing and developing technical support teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and task-prioritization skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts in user‑friendly language.
- Customer service‑oriented mindset.
- Willingness to participate in on‑call and pager rotations.
