Work Hours:

80 Hours Bi-Weekly

Starting Salary: $20.00 an hour

Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification)

Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed below. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the area of behavioral science, criminal justice, government, law, public administration, or related field is preferred. Three years’ supervisory experience and/or administrative experience in criminal justice, preferably in a correctional facility is required.

Licensure And Certification Requirements

Possession of a valid Ohio Operator’s Permit. ORAS certified within one year of employment.

Job Duties (Summary)
  • Serves as Grievance Officer and oversee resident grievances and complaints.
  • Participates in resident due process.
  • Assist with community service to include, CAP, MAP, IDL, Housekeeping residents,
  • Provides outreach to community and searches for community service opportunities.
  • Assist others with obtaining residents identification, birth certificates, social security cards and begin Medicaid registration 30-days form discharge.
  • Provides training and group facilitation for residents as needed.
  • Conducts assessments as required.
  • Attends community events and serves as liaison to community and other agencies representing River City.
  • Ensures that Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) and American Correctional Association (ACA) standards for Community Based Corrections Facilities (CBCF) and related policies and procedures are consistently and uniformly followed and that all staff remains knowledgeable of those standards.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to information obtained and processed in the operation of the facility.
  • Responds in person, when required, to any problems and/or emergencies at the facility in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that the overall sanitation, security and safety of the facility are maintained at all times. Provides for a safe working environment for all staff members, residents, visitors and volunteers at the CBCF.
  • Participates in ACA and DRC audit preparation.
  • Ensures that the facility and its premises are kept free of health, fire and safety hazards. Ensures that all grounds, walkways, driveways and parking areas adjacent to the CBCF are in good repair and well-lighted to ensure safety and perimeter security.

  • Hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals both in person and over a telephone.
  • Ability to check email and phone messages and process in a timely manner.
  • Speaking ability sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals in person and over a telephone.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Working Conditions

Correctional Center setting; moderate noise.

Physical Demands

Work involves a significant amount of standing, walking, sitting, talking, listening, stooping and reaching with hands and arms.

Communications

Conveys and receives information in person and over the telephone.

Employee benefits are included but are not limited to employees regularly schedule to work an average of thirty (30) hours or more per week. Medical insurance coverage through United Health Care, dental, vision, vacation, sick leave, 15 observed paid holidays, employer paid life insurance, and Ohio Public Employees Retirement (OPERS) where employees contribute 10% of their pay on a pre-tax basis and the employer contributes 14%.
