Job Description

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) supports patient care by ensuring comfort and safety, following the model of care at TCH, which emphasizes collaboration between patients, families, and healthcare teams. Care is culturally sensitive and age-appropriate, and all duties are delegated by a Registered Nurse according to Ohio Board of Nursing guidelines.

• Clinical:
  Perform clinical tasks assigned by the RN, adhering to Ohio Board of Nursing delegation guidelines. Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Leadership & Accountability:
  Demonstrate key behavioral competencies such as effective communication, adaptability, teamwork, and personal accountability.
• Environment and Safety:
  Ensure patient and unit safety.
• Comfort:
  Provide patient comfort and hygiene, documenting according to policy.
• Communication:
  Orient patients and families to the hospital environment and facilitate communication throughout the hospitalization process.
