Job Description:
Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and do not perform duties that can legally be performed by only a registered pharmacist. For Pharmacy Technician II, additional responsibilities involve a high level of initiative and competency in specialized areas of the department.

Qualifications:
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED required - License and Certification:
Current Ohio state‑registered pharmacy technician registration and certification required - Experience:
No experience required; 1–2 years of equivalent experience preferred - Skills &RCI:
Accurate work with attention to detail within specified time periods; cooperative teamwork; ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes; set priorities, solve problems, respond quickly to emergency requests, communicate effectively orally and in writing
Responsibilities:
- Procure and distribute medication orders according to established policies and procedures
- Fill physician orders, medication kits, carts, and stock requisitions accurately; replenish emergency drug containers and floor stock areas
- Prepare intravenous admixtures and other sterile preparations (including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition) safely and accurately
- Deliver medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas on schedule
- Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies per policies
- Pick up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from patient care areas during delivery rounds
- Enter medication orders, charges, and credits accurately into the pharmacy computer system
- Generate reports, pick lists, and labels as required; answer the telephone, direct calls, and make stat deliveries
- Organize and prioritize work assignments; maintain logs, records, and other required documentation accurately
- Complete and document all assigned medication storage area inspections monthly; conduct quality monitors and related documentation
- Own an identified quality improvement project; present annual updates
- Meet and perform according to hospital and department standards of performance
