Position: Child Life Specialist for A4C & A7C

Child Life Specialist for A4C & A7C – Cincinnati Children's

Location: Burnet Campus

Primary units: A4C and A7C

Status: Full-time, .9 FTE

Schedule
  • Week 1:
    Sunday 8am-4:30pm, Wednesday 12pm-8:30pm, Thursday & Friday 8am-8:30pm
  • Weeks 2 & 3:
    Wednesday 12pm-8:30pm, Thursday & Friday 8am-8:30pm
  • Week 4:
    Wednesday 12pm-8:30pm, Thursday & Friday 8am-8:30pm, Saturday 8am-4:30pm
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 0+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
  • Completion of child life internship under the supervision of a certified CLS
  • CCLS within one year of hire
Job Responsibilities
  • Patient Care – Performs psychosocial assessments of patients and families, identifies strengths, concerns, and needs to set short- and long-term goals, facilitates family involvement, supports patients and families in adjusting to injury, diagnosis, chronic illness or disability, identifies and advocates for needs within the healthcare system and community, evaluates effectiveness of interventions, reports suspicions of abuse and neglect, implements appropriate interventions, reviews and revises goals, conducts post-procedural assessments, promotes pain management, documents services, participates in patient care conferences, follows up on referrals.
  • Professional Responsibility – Supports and participates in process improvement activities, seeks opportunities for evidence-based care and professional inquiry, maintains knowledge level, contributes to professional advancement, orients and supervises volunteers, contributes to education and training, shares knowledge with peers, remains current in professional field, acquires continuing education, integrates new knowledge into practice.
  • Departmental Responsibility – Submits requests for supplies, keeps work areas organized and professional, identifies and solves problems, manages time and priorities, handles workload, completes special assignments, increases productivity, contributes to a positive work environment.
  • Data Management – Completes required daily/weekly information exchange and documentation per division guidelines.
  • Teamwork – Engages in multidisciplinary team processes, participates in problem solving, learning, best practice pursuits, deals with conflicts directly and tactfully, promotes cooperation, respect, and trust within the team, responds to day-to-day needs of co-workers and division.
