Position PurposeUnder direct supervision and working in a team environment, this position provides daily personal physical, psycho‑social and spiritual needs, activities of daily living and comfort for our residents in accordance with our established policies, procedures and team standards.
Responsibilities- Groom residents and provide all other personal care to ensure clothing, hair, and overall appearance are clean and presentable.
- Provide medication reminders as requested by the health services team.
- Respond promptly to all emergency pendant alarms during scheduled hours. Report malfunctioning batteries immediately.
- Ensure residents’ nutritional needs are satisfied by assisting with light meal preparation as needed or as requested by resident or health services team.
- Encourage residents to participate in scheduled activities. Escort residents to activities and assist in conducting/leading activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe and inviting living environment by keeping rooms free of clutter, soiled items, debris, and odor.
- Follow facility policies and procedures for infection control by practicing standard precautions and following OSHA guidelines for handling blood and other potentially infectious materials.
- Handle all soiled and/or biohazardous items appropriately to avoid contamination.
- Document care provided in a timely and accurate manner using the computerized medical records systems.
- Notify the nurse promptly of changes in resident condition, family and/or resident concerns, malfunctioning equipment, material shortages, and other pertinent observations.
- Conduct inspections as needed or directed by the Director of Nursing or Neighborhood Nurse Leader (e.g., mattress inspections). Maintain log of inspections.
- Attend all team meetings while on duty and other mandatory in‑services.
- Complete the 12 hours of annual in‑service training required to maintain state certification.
- Maintain competency in all additional areas of skills training.
- Uphold the philosophy of Person‑Centered Care, acting to restore and/or provide Purpose, Choice and Freedom to residents whenever possible.
- Provide outstanding customer service in accordance with ERS’s expectations and values.
- Adhere to all ERS policies and procedures, including safety and Corporate Compliance programs.
- Maintain confidentiality of a resident’s pertinent health information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Promote resident safety.
- Completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant program.
- Ability to lift, push, pull or move 50 lbs regularly and 100 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to relate to and work effectively with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile people, remaining calm in emotionally charged situations.
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in the English language.
- Ability to see and hear, with or without reasonable accommodation, so that essential functions of this position may be fully met.
- Ability to sit, stoop, bend, and move continuously throughout the day.
- Ability to maintain an attendance record that meets company attendance policy guidelines.
- Experience working under all conditions with residents, family members, staff, visitors, etc., and being prepared for hostile and emotionally upset encounters.
- Willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel and communicate with residents at any behavior or acuity level.
- Knowledge and competencies for age‑specific interventions.
- Fully vaccinated with the COVID‑19 vaccine.
