About The Job- The Behavior Safety Team (BST) is an interdisciplinary team dedicated to helping individuals receive the medical care they need while maintaining their safety and the safety of caregivers and staff.
- The BST Child Life Specialist works alongside the rest of the team, including the clinical directors, psychologists, behavior health facilitators, behavior health consultants, and intake coordinators, to help create and carry out comprehensive support plans to ensure physical and emotional safety during healthcare encounters and appointments.
- Key responsibilities include pre‑planning for healthcare appointments, providing child life support, collaborating with the Adaptive Care Team and Outpatient Child Life Specialists, aiding program development, and educating peers on behavioral support strategies and crisis response.

- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Completion of child life internship under the supervision of a certified CLS.
- Must be Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) within one year of hire.
- Experience (preferred) or strong interest in working with patients with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors.
- Ability to remain calm in highly escalated/crisis situations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to speak up and advocate for patients/families with the interdisciplinary team.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn/apply feedback.
Location C (Burnet Campus)
ScheduleFull time, Monday‑Friday 7:30 am–4:00 pm; weekend rotation: working one weekend day every eight weeks with $5.00 hour weekend differential on qualified hours added to base pay.
