Job Responsibilities- Compile and prepare patient charges, including invoices, UB-04, and 1500 claim forms for third‑party payers; review charges; obtain and evaluate payment from families, payers, and agencies; ensure procedures are billed according to contracts; transmit or mail all paper and electronic claims; review correspondence and follow up as needed.
- Maintain and update departmental systems, templates, payer, and physician information.
- Act as a preceptor for new employees, provide instruction for non‑routine functions, and serve as a liaison between Physicians Billing Service, Admitting, Outpatient Surgery, Outpatient Department, Patient Financial Services, and other Cincinnati Children’s departments.
- Manage financial support by counseling patients on third‑party coverage, determining eligibility for Medicaid, Social Security, and other funding; complete necessary paperwork; coordinate admissions; input charges; manage accounts receivable data; research third‑party payers; maintain charge master; conduct utilization review with the Utilization Review department; process, post, and balance payments to accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
- Provide Quality Assurance reports for the division.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two or more years of experience in a related discipline.
