Job Description
PRN Nurse Practitioner role to cover PTO for full-time team members. Locations:
Downtown Cincinnati, Amelia, Delhi, Spring Grove. Day/
Hours:
Mon‑Fri day shift (available as many weekdays as possible). Department:
Onsite Medical Services – episodic and primary care.
Job Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Graduate from NP, CNS, or midwife program
- Specialty certification in area of expertise
- Registered Nurse with APRN Licensure
- Demonstrated expertise in area of clinical specialization
- Professional membership in specialty nursing organization required within one year of start date
- 3–4 years experience in clinical nursing practice in geriatric, occupational health, or other applicable setting
- APRN II must spend 50% of hours worked utilizing prescriptive authority in advanced clinical practice role
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate and consult with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, the patient, and family when diagnosing, prioritizing problems, and implementing interventions.
- Provide consultation and initiate referrals to other healthcare team members, promote collaboration among team members.
- Assist interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families in selecting therapies that integrate perspectives of cost and quality of benefits.
- Collaborate with other disciplines in teaching, consultation, management, and research activities to improve outcomes in nursing practice and enhance the healthcare environment.
- Provide effective leadership, integrate analysis of cost and benefits in care decisions, design/develop innovative solutions for patient care problems that utilize resource efficiency while maintaining or improving quality and advancing best practices.
- Provide leadership in the development and application of consensus‑derived protocols or evidence‑based practice guidelines in the clinical setting.
- Participate in healthcare‑related decision‑making at system, local, state, and national levels to improve patient outcomes.
- Serve in key roles by participating in/leading committees, councils, and administrative teams.
- Utilize, participate in, and disseminate research, evidence‑based practice, or quality improvement projects to enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes; may serve as primary or co‑investigator.
- Critically evaluate existing practice based on current research findings and integrate changes into practice through an EBP project.
- Evaluate processes of care by serving as leader or team member in relevant quality improvement projects.
- Promote mentoring and education to nursing by serving as a journal club mentor and facilitating learning in critically appraising the literature.
- Provide education to patients, families, and healthcare providers to promote best practice.
- Serve as a teacher, mentor, role model to nurses in the promotion of nursing research, EBP; serve as preceptor, role model, and mentor to staff nurses and colleagues as well as nursing students.
- Ensure nursing practice is conducted in an ethical and legal manner; abide by Ohio Scope of Practice as an APRN; provide safe, compassionate, competent, and ethical care.
- Preserve patient dignity; advocate for advanced directives and adherence to patient wishes; contribute to end‑of‑life decisions and palliative care discussions.
- At least 50% of position involves direct management of patient’s and/or family’s care; independently perform and document a complete history and physical examination, including psychosocial assessment.
- Prescribe drugs and therapeutic devices consistent with formulary; assess for synergistic effects of pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic interventions.
- Order laboratory and radiologic tests, interpret results, collaborate with physician(s) to plan and implement comprehensive care plan.
- Discuss patient’s care with family members; perform duties per the Standard Care Arrangement.
