Position: Radiology Technologist - Main Diagnostic Radiology - Part Time - Days

Overview

Radiology Technologist - Main Diagnostic Radiology - Part Time - Days. This role performs routine radiographic, fluoroscopic and portable examinations in the diagnostic department of Radiology, on nursing units, outpatient areas and the surgery department.

Responsibilities
  • Takes radiographs per physician orders.
  • Aim to have 95% of films satisfactory as measured by repeat rate.
  • Exams are completed following the procedure outlined in the routine book, including signing out requests with correct information.
  • All requests must contain history pertinent to the ordered exam.
  • Be versatile within the diagnostic department of Radiology and capable of working in multiple areas without assistance (routine room, IVP, fluoroscopy, portable (C-arm and routine radiograph), and GU).
  • Must be able to perform all exams listed in the routine book.
  • Protect patients and employees from unnecessary radiation. Use diagnostic technical factors and shielding without compromising the exam purpose; ensure coning and use of lead orientation markers on all films.
  • Have knowledge of front desk operations as well as computer systems; report equipment problems to manager and Clinical Engineers.
  • Schedule all exams department-wide and alert a supervisor when necessary; use the centralized transport program for patient transportation.
  • Look up pertinent information in computer systems concerning patient exams, ordering, reprinting or canceling when necessary.
  • Interact professionally with other departments and call in needed on-call imaging associates as required.
  • Report all equipment problems to the clinical engineering 24-hour hotline; notify managers as needed (paging during on-call periods).
  • Perform other duties as directed and remain available for assignment as needed.
  • Assist Radiologic Technologist Students.
  • Perform operational duties related to equipment quality assurance, regulatory compliance (ODH, Joint Commission), ordering of supplies, scheduling of staff and departmental audits.

Protected Health Information Access

Access to patient records in course of normal operations is a responsibility of all designated personnel. Access is limited to records pertinent to patient care or regulatory requirements and occurs only as needed to carry out imaging duties. Confidentiality and protection of all records is the responsibility of each individual.

  • Pre procedure in preparation for scheduled exams
  • During the procedure in care of the patient
  • Post procedure follow-up and QA processes
  • To conduct retrospective reviews for education, research or regulatory compliance
  • To respond to daily requests from patients, other departments, physicians or offices requesting access to historical records

Documentation of access should be recorded as appropriate in logs or in the electronic medical record systems.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION: Graduation from an ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology program, and/or completion of on-the-job training that enables certification.

YEARS OF

EXPERIENCE:

At least the required experience as specified by the posting.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of medical terminology, isolation and sterile techniques/procedures; patient positioning and operation of x-ray machines and printers.

LICENSES &

CERTIFICATIONS:

Must have graduated from an ARRT-accredited program and be eligible for ARRT certification in Radiology. Must obtain ARRT(R) certification and a valid Ohio radiographer license within 4 weeks of start date to operate in the department.
