Financial Controller

Location: Cincinnati, OH preferred. Open to Boston, MA.

Reports to: President and Managing Director

We are seeking a hands on Finance Controller to own the day to day financial operations of our business. This role is ideal for someone who is detail oriented, execution focused, and comfortable operating in a small to mid sized company environment where accuracy, reliability, and follow through matter.

The Controller will be responsible for managing core accounting functions including cash management, accounts payable and receivable, payroll coordination, and month end close, while working closely with leadership and cross functional teams to ensure the financial foundation of the business is strong, timely, and dependable.

While this role is operational and hands on, it also offers meaningful opportunity to grow alongside the business. As the company scales, the Controller will have the ability to expand their scope, take on broader ownership, and contribute strategic financial insight to support decision making across the organization. This is a role for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats and building structure in a growing environment.

This is not a purely strategic role on day one. It requires someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, managing daily processes, and taking pride in getting the details right, with a clear path to increased responsibility over time.

• Monitor daily cash balances and reconcile activity across company accounts
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Maintain a rolling 13 week cash flow forecast
• Prepare and submit biweekly payroll and maintain payroll records
• Own month end close including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare month end financial reporting and supporting analysis
• Support margin analysis by product, customer, or channel
• Prepare required state sales tax filings
• Process recurring monthly payments including rent, commissions, and owner distributions
• Support quarterly royalty calculations and payments
• Partner with internal teams to improve financial processes and documentation
• Provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis to leadership
• Build annual budgets & cashflow forecasts

• Proven experience in a hands on accounting or controller role
• Strong attention to detail and comfort managing daily financial processes
• Solid understanding of month end close
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Comfortable working in a fast paced, growing business

• Three or more years of relevant accounting or controller experience
• Experience supporting payroll, cash management, and financial reporting
• Experience working in a small to mid sized business preferred
