Primary Duties And Responsibilities

OverviewThe Consumer Lending Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting consumer loan applications in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities- Review and analyze consumer loan applications to determine creditworthiness and risk
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies
- Communicate with loan officers and other stakeholders to gather additional information and clarify loan details
- Make underwriting decisions based on established criteria and guidelines
- Provide recommendations for loan approvals or denials
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of loan documentation
- Monitor loan portfolio for potential risks and take appropriate action as needed
- Partner with front line teams around loan product coaching
- Review existing member profiles for loan servicing options (modifications, skip a pay eligibility, etc.)
- High School diploma or GED required;
Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field preferred - Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in consumer lending underwriting required
- Strong understanding of consumer lending regulations and guidelines
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and loan origination software
