Consumer Lending Underwriter

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

The Consumer Lending Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting consumer loan applications in accordance with established policies and procedures.

• Review and analyze consumer loan applications to determine creditworthiness and risk
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies
• Communicate with loan officers and other stakeholders to gather additional information and clarify loan details
• Make underwriting decisions based on established criteria and guidelines
• Provide recommendations for loan approvals or denials
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of loan documentation
• Monitor loan portfolio for potential risks and take appropriate action as needed
• Partner with front line teams around loan product coaching
• Review existing member profiles for loan servicing options (modifications, skip a pay eligibility, etc.)

• High School diploma or GED required;
  Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field preferred
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in consumer lending underwriting required

• Strong understanding of consumer lending regulations and guidelines
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and loan origination software
