Assistant Controller

A well‑established, mission‑driven institution is partnering with Carson Lynch to hire an Assistant Controller
. This is a hands‑on leadership role for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys owning the close process, leading teams, and driving operational improvements in a complex organization.

$110,000 – $125,000 per year.

• Broad ownership of accounting and finance operations

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Oversee general ledger, financial reporting, and reconciliations
• Manage and mentor accounting staff across AP, AR, and related functions
• Lead annual financial statement audit and support compliance audits
• Oversee cash management, investments, and treasury activities
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling initiatives
• Prepare reports and financial analysis for senior leadership and board use
• Drive process improvement, automation, and internal controls enhancement
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable tax filings (federal, state, local)

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
• CPA and/or Master’s degree (preferred)
• 5+ years of accounting or finance experience
• 3+ years in a leadership or management capacity
• Strong GAAP knowledge and audit experience
• Background in higher education or nonprofit accounting (a plus)
• Proven ability to manage deadlines in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
• Hands‑on leader with strong attention to detail and analytical skills
