Tax Manager, Provision & Federal Taxes – BDO USA
Salary: National Range: $125,000 - $145,000;
Maryland Range: $125,000 - $145,000; NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $125,000 - $145,000.

Job SummaryAs part of Corporate Finance, the Tax Manager oversees the annual tax provision process and leads the preparation of BDO USA, P.C. and its affiliates federal tax returns. The role also reviews tax work papers, manages tax projections, handles federal, state and local income tax estimates, extensions, budgets, and accomplishes federal income tax audits with no change results.
Primary Responsibilities- Lead the company’s tax provision process and coordinate tax projects end‑to‑end.
- Collect necessary data and information for the corporate federal tax return.
- Manage federal tax return preparation using One Source OIT or Corp Tax.
- Coordinate quarterly tax projections for federal, state, and local estimated payments and extensions.
- Research complex tax questions, communicate findings, and implement results on income tax returns.
- Set up and compute US income tax provisions; draft financial footnote disclosures and support external audit correspondence.
- Serve as primary contact for federal tax audits.
- Oversee reconciliation of tax accounts and coordinate associated journal entries with Senior Tax Accountants.
- Drive the process for budgeting tax expenses.
- Demonstrate and execute BDO’s Tax Manager Competencies.
- Supervise a team of Senior Tax Accountants.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or Finance (required);
Master’s preferred. - Experience: 6+ years in public accounting tax team or corporate tax department; experience preparing federal & state provisions and corporate income tax returns; exposure to multi‑state and international preparations preferred.
- License/Certification: CPA or Enrolled Agent preferred.
- Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel & Word); experience with One Source (OIT & OPT) or other tax software; familiarity with Oracle and One Stream or similar GL tools preferred.

Ability to lead tax projects with limited supervision, superior customer service, confidential handling of tax matters, effective communication at all levels, deadline‑driven multitasking, deep knowledge of federal and state income taxation, strong written and verbal communication, excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
