Manager, State & Local Tax - Asset Management

At KPMG US, we are seeking a Manager to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice within Asset Management. This role offers a remote option and focuses on multi-state tax matters for alternative investment clients (hedge funds, fund of funds, private equity, real estate).

• Participate in compliance and consulting projects for multi-state alternative investment clients (hedge funds, fund of funds, private equity, real estate)
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide subject matter knowledge and industry experience in the alternative investment space
• Review tax calculations and information presented on state income tax returns
• Build and manage client relationships, supervise, mentor, and develop staff

• Minimum five years of recent experience preparing and/or reviewing state income tax returns for pass-through and corporate entities, with technical advice on multi-state tax issues
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; licensed CPA, EA, JD/LLM or MTX, or other approved designations per KPMG's list; if none of the approved designations are held at hire, one year to obtain at least one
• Experience providing services to pass-through entities and solid knowledge of relevant state tax concepts
• Able to foster relationships internally as well as with clients
• Strong ability and desire to perform in a high-energy, team-oriented environment
• Exceptional writing, communication, project and team management, and tax research skills
