Job Objective- Support the engineering team as needed to complete tasks and projects
- Provide a link between education and industry via real world work experiences in an engineering environment.
Job Description
(to assist with the completion of)
- Design:
- Create logic diagrams and flow charts
- Capture schematics, wiring assembly drawings, and run SPICE
- Assist in the completion of ECN’s, both sustaining engineering and new product development
- Specify, develop, and setup electrical components (connectors, sensors, cabling, enclosures, etc.) for analog, digital, and power circuits
- Program PLC and HMI, data collection systems, and microcontroller-based systems (PIC, Arduino, etc), automation and testing system
- Develop LabVIEW programs for data collection and testing
- Soldering and wiring of electrical components
- Equipment / Hands-on Work:
- EE lab equipment:
Soldering iron, crimpers, wire strippers, power supply, multimeter, oscilloscope, electrical prototyping - DAQ systems, programmers for microcontrollers, cellular and Wi‑Fi connectivity devices
- Sound level meter, accelerometers, strain gauge, flow meter, oven, leak decay, high speed camera, metrology equipment
- 3D printing – FMD and SLA
- Shop tools: power tools, air compressors, hand tools, etc.
- Testing:
- Learn and apply testing processes and procedures to support engineering projects or quality improvement initiatives
- Oversee testing in process, keeping detailed logs of progress and taking pictures when necessary
- Assist in the building, testing, and evaluation of electrical components
- Assist in the building, testing, and evaluation of pneumatic and mechanical systems
- Write thorough test requests and detailed test logs
- Learn to use lab grade test and measurement equipment for capturing/documenting events of interest
- Other:
- Research and prepare a presentation about one or two specific electrical subjects (i.e. IoT, brushless motor drives, magnetics, emf, etc.), and present to the engineering team
- Complete a semester project and report relevant to the department and pertaining to electrical engineering
- Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering program or related field.
- Familiarity with Solid Works or similar CAD software preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Detail‑oriented with a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Must be available for full‑time onsite work during the Fall 2026 semester.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
