JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Process Design Co-op / Intern
Reports To: Department Manager of Process Design Group
JOB SUMMARY: Understand basic function of AutoCAD and have basic drafting skills. Responsible for completing all tasks assigned corresponding with experience and skill level.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The responsibilities listed are fundamental to the position and must be performed successfully to achieve the key performance objectives of the role. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
- Perform assigned project tasks with guidance from Engineers, Senior and Lead Designers and Managers including:
- Participate in collecting information from field inspections.
- Learn how to use the laser scanner (Point Clouds) on client sites.
- Produce sketches from field inspections.
- Convert design sketches and mark-ups to AutoCAD format.
- PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) red to black.
- P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams) red to black.
- Produce General Arrangement Drawings.
- 3D Block generation using AutoCAD.
- Learn to import / use the Point Cloud to create 3D blocks.
- Learn and follow Salas O'Brien and multiple client CAD standards.
- Motivated to grow and influence growth within the design team.
- Be able to communicate effectively.
- Multitask - Work on several projects simultaneously.
- Working towards a (2) Year technical degree or equivalent training/work experience.
- AutoCAD 3D experience is a plus.
- Microsoft Word and Excel.
Working Hours/Environment
- Hours average 40 per week.
- Work typically performed in an indoor office setting.
- Work potentially performed at client site.
- Frequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for long period of time.
- Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
- Light Lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to speak to and hear employees/clients via phone or in person.
- Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move around an office environment.
- Ability to analyze unique situations and develop appropriate response.
- While performing duties of this job, the employee may work under the following conditions:
- Construction work site
- Exposed to mechanical moving equipment
- High precarious places
- Outside weather conditions
- Noisy environments
