Lead Engineer – MBE Technology

The Lead Engineer – MBE Technology is responsible for execution and complete delivery on projects that advance data continuity and collaboration during product development and manufacture. The role requires a highly collaborative individual with initiative to develop new ideas and implement change. The role reports to the MBE Capability Development Manager within Engineering. The team mission is to build a GE Aerospace digital ecosystem enabling GE Edison Works to deliver state‑of‑the‑art propulsion systems at the fastest rate possible.

The role involves managing challenges across multiple functional areas of expertise to create digital traceability in our processes and is based in Evendale.

Job Description Essential Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross function teams leveraging experience and technical competency to meet Model Based Design‑Manufacturing‑Inspection (MB‑DMI) objectives
  • Ensure creation and maintenance of MBD data elements (geometry, annotations, attributes, product characteristics, presentation states) to both human and machine‑readable standards
  • Develop and implement processes and standards for Model Based data creation and management
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure data is accurate, complete, and traceable
  • Work with internal and external operations to ensure seamless digital consumption of MBD data
  • Developing & maintaining MBD data structures for interoperability between information systems
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in MBD and related technologies
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM from accredited university or college
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to align stakeholders across diverse groups – Engineering, Product Definition, Sourcing, and Supply Chain
  • This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance
Desired Characteristics
  • 1+ years of experience in an aerospace
  • Experience with standards and process development
  • Experience with digital transformation and data traceability initiatives such as characteristic traceability through product lifecycle
  • Knowledge of manufacturing/quality process & equipment
  • Experience with use of Product Definition in Manufacturing and Quality Planning/Execution
  • For example, Shop Floor Routing, Computer Aided Machining, Computer Aided Inspection
  • Knowledge of design process
  • Knowledge of PMI reuse in Manufacturing & Quality
  • Knowledge of product definition standards and GD&T
  • Experience using Siemens NX CAD and Teamcenter
  • Experience with MBD related standards (ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.41, ASME Y14.47, MILSTD-31000B) and interoperable file formats (STEP 242, QIF, JT)
  • Experience with CAD and PLM software
  • Experience with MBD related software (ITI CADIQ, Capvidia MBDvidia, etc.)
Security Clearance

This role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
