Valco Melton, a world leader in adhesive application, fluid handling, and quality assurance systems, is seeking an entry-level Technical Writer to join the Engineering team at our world headquarters in Cincinnati.
The Technical Writer will be responsible for composing and maintaining a range of technical materials, including user manuals, instruction sheets, data sheets, installation guides and more. These materials will be used both internally and externally so clarity in communication and accuracy in technical detail are paramount. In addition, we are looking for someone who can creatively deploy different tools and approaches to improve the effectiveness of our technical materials’ form and content.
As a member of the Engineering team, this role will work primarily in an engineering context and support engineering documentation, but there will also be close collaboration with our Instructional Design function to support the development of training materials.
Note:
this is a 100% in-person role based at Valco Melton’s headquarters in Cincinnati.
- Develop clear, accurate documentation including user manuals, instruction sheets, data sheets, installation guides.
- Establish and use existing documentation standards, templates, and best practices to ensure consistency and scalability according to company style guidelines.
- Maintain and improve existing documentation, including guides, manuals and tutorials according to subject matter expert and user feedback.
- Meet with technical experts, including mechanical and electrical engineers, project managers, and assemblers, to learn about and document our equipment and its functions.
- Document technical information based on engineering drawings, contracts, schematics, order data sheets, and technical specifications.
- Manage translations of materials and format those translations as needed to create statutorily-conforming documents in multiple languages.
- Photograph machinery and create graphic content when needed.
- Maintain documentation updates in line with product releases, ensuring timely revisions that reflect new features, enhancements, or changes.
- Stay updated on advancements in software, tooling and systems design to incorporate industry best practices into documentation.
- Completed degree (either Bachelor’s or Associate’s) in an Engineering discipline or a writing-related field and/or previous Technical Writing experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe, CAD screenshots, or similar tools a plus.
- Excellent writing, editing, communication, and proofreading skills.
- Experience managing multiple projects with accuracy and timely delivery.
