Electrical Controls Designer

On Line Design is currently looking for an Electrical Controls Designer to assist a client of ours in Cincinnati, OH. This role is structured to be long-term starting as a contract to hire opportunity. In this role, you will be working with Industrial Equipment for the consumer goods space. You will be asked to design, develop schematics, and write engineering instruction documents.

To be successful in this role you will need a working knowledge of PLC controlled equipment.

• Generating schematics, panel layouts, PLC I/O integration, and communication diagrams in AutoCAD.
• Designing control panels for industrial enclosures, considering thermal management, industry standards, device specifications and requirements.
• Creating comprehensive electrical schematics which include power distribution, motor control circuits, and safety strings.
• Specifying and integrating Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and servo systems into control architectures.
• Generating accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) to support quotation, procurement and manufacturing of equipment.
• Integration of communication protocols including Ether Net/IP into PLC controlled equipment.

• Associates or Bachelors Degree in Engineering
• 5+ years of experience working with Industrial Control Panels
• 5+ years of experience using AutoCAD for Electrical Design
• An understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, and UL 508A standards in electrical design.
• Experience designing PLC Platforms, experience with Rockwell Automation is preferred.
• Previous Large CPG Project Experience is a plus
