Job Description Summary
The Engineering Manager - Aeromechanics, Defense & Systems Mechanical Sciences is responsible for the aeromechanics (High Cycle Fatigue) discipline in the design and development of products, solutions, and systems.
Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components.
Impacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives.
The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products.
- Manage a small to medium team of senior professionals and others. Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
- Interpret simple internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stay informed of industry trends that may inform work.
- Use a high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and construct and provide recommendations. Use multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicate difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. Guide others to consider a different point of view.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- At least 8 additional years’ experience in an engineering position
- Successful candidate must obtain and maintain U.S. Government Security Clearance; prerequisite is U.S. citizenship.
- Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Established project management skills.
- Expertise in turbo machinery airfoil design, particularly in aeromechanics and mechanical design and analysis.
The base pay range for this position is 150, USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/commission based on the plan.
