Summary Objective: Federal Equipment Company is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Intern to join our team. As an Intern, you will be taking on impactful work while engaging in a dynamic learning experience and working side by side with our team. As a Co‑Op, you will be taking on impactful work, while engaging in a dynamic learning experience, and working as a valued member of our team.

Internship Requirements
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Sponsorship for employment visas is not available for this job opening.
  • Must be willing to comply with pre‑employment screening, including but not limited to, reference verification, post‑offer drug testing and background check.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
Essential Job Functions
  • Determine design parameters with Engineering Manager, Project Engineer and Sales Engineer in the kick‑off meeting, if applicable.
  • Write advance purchase requisitions for long delivery items. Write all additional purchase requisitions required for each job and submit all requisitions to Engineering Manager.
  • Review proposal, pre‑engineering form and customer specs. Advise the Engineering Manager or Project Engineer of any problems.
  • Advise Engineering Manager or Project Engineer of any design problems and work with them on possible solutions.
  • Prepare detailed drawings.
  • Prepare shop order forms.
  • Run blueprints as required for customer approval, shop fabrication, field installation, purchasing, etc.
  • Keep accurate time records and submit to Engineering Manager at the end of each workweek.
  • Observe shop progress daily and advise Engineering Manager or Project Engineer as to any problems that exist or possible problems that might exist.
  • Work with Engineering Manager or Project Engineer as requested to solve equipment installation problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Educational Requirements
  • Strong organizational, project management and inter‑personal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate well with both management, office staff, and craft labor on the shop floor.
  • Previous experience leading teams.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Works well in a fast‑faced environment with minimal day‑to‑day supervision.
  • Proven ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, quantitative, and problem‑solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
