Your impact

When it comes to the most challenging environmental issues facing our communities today, we’re focused on developing and delivering the most innovative solutions to improve our tomorrow. We’re looking for a Mid‑Level Environmental Engineer/Geologist/Scientist to continue their career at Jacobs – where we’ll empower you to learn and grow in the delivery of environmental site characterization and remediation projects for government and global private‑sector clients to make our world better.

Based in the Midwest (Kansas City, MO, Saint Louis, MO, Minneapolis, MN, Chicago, IL, Milwaukee, WI, or Cincinnati, OH), you’ll participate in a variety of field and office tasks related to planning and implementing environmental investigation and remediation projects. You’ll learn from other experienced staff who are ready to mentor you, and you’ll pass your knowledge on to others. You’ll gain valuable experience in soil and groundwater sampling as well as drilling and subcontractor oversight, spending about 50% of your time in the field.

You’ll balance your field work with some time spent in the office evaluating and reviewing data, writing reports and preparing project documents, and coordinating logistics for field activities. You’ll be juggling multiple tasks, so we’ll rely on you to prioritize effectively, keeping the big‑picture in mind.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage field projects
  • Collaborate and coordinate work with subcontractors, internal support staff, and subject matter experts
  • Analyze data, prepare technical reports, and design and implement pilot studies and remedial systems
  • Provide motivation and direction to project teams, and benefit from mentorship opportunities to help you grow a career at Jacobs
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, or a closely related field
  • 5‑10 years of professional experience delivering environmental site characterization and remediation projects, including fieldwork methodology and assessment of data for various environmental media
  • Experience working on project sites and overseeing subcontractors
  • Experience leading teams toward a common goal
  • 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to attain this certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in engineering, geology, or a closely related field
  • Professional registration (e.g., Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist) or intent to obtain and maintain professional certification
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with coworkers, contractors, and clients
  • Strong attention to detail in field work and data evaluation
  • Familiarity with United States Environmental Protection Agency regulations, including CERCLA and RCRA
Benefits

Health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you and in the things you care about. Employees have access to medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discount. Eligible employees may also enroll in a deferred compensation plan or the Executive Deferral Plan. Jacobs has an unlimited U.S. Personalized Paid Time Off (PPTO) policy for full‑time salaried/exempt employees, seven paid holidays, one floating holiday, and caregiver leave.

Certain roles may be eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, performance discretionary bonus, and stock.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
