Job Title:Structural Engineer
Work Location:Grand Rivers, KY (Kentucky Lock Dam)
Salary:Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Provides professional structural engineering and construction management support, serving as a general engineer providing professional and technical leadership, guidance, and expertise in managing contractor‑executed construction projects
- Serves as the organizational subject matter expert regarding national standards and practices for structural engineering designs, foundation analysis for dams and lock structures as well as bridges and roads
- Reviews as‑built drawings and replies to RFI requests
- Performs quality assurance inspections, structural fabrication inspections, documentation review and preparation, and general construction management and oversight from a structural engineering perspective
- Reviews construction lift plans involving cranes and rigging
- Has experience reviewing contractor claims
- Provides safety oversight, documentation of such oversight, and directs corrective actions as required to ensure worker and public safety
- Assists in interpreting and enforcing contractual provisions regarding contractor structural engineering requirements and deliverables; documents and provides reports regarding contractor progress
- Recommends authorization of progress payments based on observed contract progress
Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- 10 years of experience as structural engineer on large complex multimillion‑dollar federal construction projects
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred
- Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Tennessee Valley Authority, or other federal project experience preferred
- Experience with lock, dam and/or levee construction preferred
- Demonstrated experience in heavy civil construction with an emphasis on structural concrete, rebar, and formwork
- Experience with design and monitoring shop fabrication of welded steel structures
- Experience with review of construction lift plans involving cranes and rigging
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
- Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat
