Position Summary
Our Architectural/Engineering services client is seeking to hire a Senior Mechanical Designer to lead the design and coordination of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for a variety of commercial building types. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design process from concept through construction documents
- Develop HVAC and plumbing system layouts using Revit and AutoCAD
- Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and energy analysis
- Coordinate with architects, structural, electrical, and civil engineers
- Review and mark up shop drawings and submittals
- Mentor junior designers and engineers
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and sustainability goals
- Participate in client meetings and presentations as needed
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design for buildings
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical design software (e.g., Trane Trace, Carrier HAP)
- Strong knowledge of building codes, ASHRAE standards, and LEED principles
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- PE license preferred but not required
