Position: NGP3 Systems Senior Staff Engineer - Externals

Job Description Summary

The Advanced Product Development (APD) Systems Senior Staff Engineer will lead elements of the systems design and development for an Edison Works New Product Introduction (NPI) program, acting as an experienced technical expert in External Hardware Systems Engineering. The role involves designing and integrating system components such as tubes, clamps, brackets, and related hardware that support the external architecture design of the engine.

The engineer will lead initiatives and sub‑system teams, lending depth of expertise to less experienced teammates, and may mentor in systems engineering, mechanical and/or thermal design fundamentals, test, producibility, and engine certification/qualification.

This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with various internal and external engineering disciplines, influencing engineering approaches, projects, and programs. It has a significant impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness, and the engineer will have moderate autonomy and high levels of operational judgment.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues, explaining complex information and building consensus; demonstrate persuasion skills to influence others.
  • Be an expert in MBSE, ensuring all interfaces, test plans, and qualification plans are accurately mapped to components and modeled without error.
  • Formulate and implement plans to meet program requirements, schedules, and contract commitments.
  • Present business or technical discipline challenges and solutions to leaders; communicate complex messages, negotiate internally to adopt different viewpoints.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to understand program needs, build confidence in GE Aerospace’s execution, and provide solutions that meet cost and schedule constraints.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments as appropriate.
  • Assist in developing new business opportunities by leading and contributing to proposal efforts.
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through analysis and presentation of data to internal and external customers.
  • Advocate for airframe partners’ interests and communicate with management on strategic and/or technical issues.
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and/or tasks, consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
