Lead Environmental Planner / Senior Siting Specialist
WSP is seeking an experienced Lead Environmental Planner / Senior Siting Specialist to work at our various Ohio regional offices including Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Dayton, Akron, and Toledo. The role is part of WSP’s Earth & Environment Team, focusing on delivering siting and routing studies for energy transmission, substation, and renewable projects across Ohio and surrounding states.
Responsibilities- Plan, execute, and lead siting and routing studies for transmission, substation, and renewable energy projects.
- Gather background data, prepare siting and routing maps, and document findings in defensible reports.
- Lead meetings with clients, agencies, and stakeholders; conduct windshield surveys and public open‑house sessions.
- Coordinate and liaise with governmental agencies, clients, and internal teams throughout the siting process.
- Develop state filing guidance and prepare public utility application components.
- Prepare and present support documentation that explains siting decisions.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in environmental siting and routing studies.
- B.Sc. in Environmental Science, Geology, or related discipline.
- Strong technical writing skills and the ability to produce clear, defensible reports.
- Experience with PJM, MISO, or other regional transmission boards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to manage project teams and deliver quality work.
- Willingness to travel for site visits and attend public meetings.
- 5–10+ years specifically focused on siting and routing for transmission, substation, or renewable projects.
- Proficiency with ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, Arc Collector, ArcGIS Enterprise, Trimble GPS units, and Terrasync software.
- Demonstrated project management experience with simultaneous multi‑project oversight.
