Job Description Summary
The Sub-Section Manager – EW Stress Analysis is responsible for delivering analytical solutions to optimize the design of components and systems for GE Aerospace Edison Works military jet engines. The manager leads a team to conduct stress analyses using advanced tools and methodologies, contributing to new product introductions, improving existing products, and resolving manufacturing issues in collaboration with the mechanical design team.
The manager also champions FLIGHT DECK principles, drives workflow automation, and leverages AI/ML applications to improve processes and outcomes.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
- Drive adoption and implementation of FLIGHT DECK tools and advance design automation through AI/ML applications.
- Manage a small to medium team of senior professionals and influence strategy for the area of responsibility.
- Interpret business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
- Use high-level judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks in engineering and manufacturing domains.
- Communicate difficult concepts and influence others’ decisions when leading functional teams or projects.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship.
- US Government Security Clearance required; U.S. citizenship prerequisite.
- Master's degree in engineering.
- Experience with design, test, and analysis tools related to thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, flow networks, or heat transfer.
- Experience with gas turbine design.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems, lead programs and projects, and execute project plans.
