Job Description Summary

Systems engineering is a cross‑functional discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process that considers both the business and technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets user needs. The HyCAT program, consisting of an air‑launched testbed including an air‑breathing high‑speed propulsion system, has recently completed preliminary design and is preparing for execution of the critical design phase and delivery of an all‑up‑round (AUR) for flight test.

The HyCAT Systems Engineering Leader will direct a cross‑functional team on technical and program execution for the HyCAT program.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership for all systems engineering and design integration activities including requirements definition, requirements compliance, configuration control, development, maturation, and demonstration.
  • Conduct component and product integration; manage product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow down; drive validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing; manage interface between components and execution organizations; drive CTQ / risk trades within the teams designing the components; manage overall product configuration and configuration control system.
  • Lead proposal efforts in response to RFI, RFP, and RFQs for both internal and external customers.
  • Provide forward‑looking strategy for HMGT product vision and technology development to drive a competitive advantage.
  • Develop and manage program schedules and budget baselines to meet business objectives.
  • Serve as best‑practice / quality resource; stay current on latest technical developments in own area; contribute toward strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Understand how own area integrates with others; maintain knowledge of competition and market differentiators.
  • Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering; analyze data to support recommendations.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience; lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements; build consensus.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in design, systems integration, or qualification engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant air‑launched and/or missile systems integration experience.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
  • Ability to travel out of state a minimum of 15% annually.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship.
Desired Characteristics
  • Master’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Active U.S. government Secret Security Clearance, preferred with Active Personnel approval.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence across the matrix.
  • Experience with DoD qualification, airworthiness, or FAA certification processes.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Experience developing and negotiating proposals.
  • Direct interaction with customers (airframers and U.S. government).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
