Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati Department of English invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Professional Writing, beginning August 15, 2026. Initial one year appointment, non-tenure track with the option for a second year. Teaching assignment is 9 credit hours per semester (3 classes) in the Rhetoric and Professional Writing track including service writing courses such as Technical and Scientific Writing, Writing in the Behavioral Sciences, and Writing for Business
Essential Functions
- Teach primarily in-person professional writing classes which prepare students to
- produce writing for professional and public contexts.
- Participate in departmental faculty meetings
Prior to effective date of appointment, candidates must have an MA or MS in Professional Writing, Technical Communication, or related field, as well as teaching experience including the following, which may have been gained concurrently:
- three academic years of experience teaching professional and technical writing classes
- one academic year of experience in online or hybrid settings
