Position Summary
The Resident Advisor (RA) serves as an integral part of the student resident life experience at the Art Academy of Cincinnati (AAC) through leadership, community building, and student advocacy. RAs facilitate relationship-building among residents, identify and assist in conflict resolution, and to ensure student safety as mandatory reporters. This is a live-in position requiring full-time residence in the AAC residence hall.
Compensation- Resident Advisors will receive housing in the residence hall at no charge for the duration of the Future BFA program (July 3rd - August 2nd).
- Resident Advisors will receive an hourly rate of $13/hr. for high contact hours.
- High contact hours consist of scheduled on-call days, RA meetings, and RA led events.
- Must be a sophomore or above at the start of employment.
- Must maintain a minimum 2.5 semester and cumulative GPA.
- Ability to live on-campus full-time, be on duty throughout weekdays, including evenings, and alternate on-duty weekends.
- Ideally, the RA has previously lived in AAC housing.
- Familiarity with AAC’s Mission and Core Values.
- Resident Advisors will begin work on July 3rd, 2026.
- Future BFA students’ move-in & orientation will take place on July 5th, 2026.
- Resident Advisors will be on call throughout the Future BFA program. The schedule is as follows and will be divided amongst the RAs.
- Monday through Friday: 4 p.m.
- 11 p.m. - Saturdays & Sundays: 10 a.m.
- 4 p.m. & 4 p.m.
- 10 p.m. - Will attend and run RA led events alongside the Department of Student Affairs.
- The Future BFA program’s last day will be August 2nd, 2026.
- Training & Onboarding:
Arrive prior to student move-in for training (CPR, First Aid, AED, naloxone, de-escalation) and assist with student orientation. RA training will be scheduled based on availability and will take place during the week of June 22nd, 2026. - Facilities Support:
Assist the Department of Facilities by posting inspection schedules and conducting independent dorm inspections with proper notice. - Programming:
Collaborate with fellow RAs to create housing programming and encourage resident participation in campus events. - Conflict & Conduct:
Document and report incidents to the Resident Coordinator; maintain strict confidentiality regarding student information. - Reporting:
Act as a mandatory reporter for Title IX violations, reporting immediately to the Title IX Coordinator. - Student Responsibilities:
Since Future BFA students consist of high school students, it is your responsibility to help and assist them. Future BFA students cannot leave campus unless accompanied by a Resident Advisor. - Time Reporting Requirement:
Report accurate time worked in the designated payroll system by the established deadline.
- Attend mandatory weekly meetings with fellow RAs and the AAC Housing Team.
- Conduct independent dorm inspections as advised by the Director of Facilities, giving residents proper notice before entering.
- Participate in formal evaluations with the Resident Coordinator at least once each semester.
- Attend and encourage resident participation in community and campus events.
- Be familiar with AAC’s Mission and Core Values and use those to inform and guide fulfillment of the RA role.
- Build relationships with residents and facilitate their relationship-building with one another.
- Identify and assist in conflict resolution. Document and report these incidents to the Resident Coordinator in a timely manner.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and refrain from sharing pertinent details with fellow students.
- As a mandatory reporter, RAs have the responsibility to report Title IX violations to the Title IX Coordinator immediately, regardless of when, how, or who shared this information.
