The English and Communications Department at UC Blue Ash invites applicants for our composition adjunct faculty general pool of candidates from which part‑time faculty will be selected for the upcoming term (as needed).
Job OverviewAdjunct Faculty member's primary academic functions include teaching first‑year English courses. This may include creating curricula or teaching from model curricula provided by the department.
Part‑time faculty must have experience and training to provide course instruction in first‑year composition and/or developmental writing.
Adjunct faculty members will be expected to:
- Use our course management system (Canvas).
- Hold regular office hours to meet with students and reply to student communications in a timely manner.
- Participate in at least one professional development workshop per year.
- Participate in writing program assessment.
- Teach to the approved course learning outcomes and course requirements.
Classes may be offered day or evening on campus or in online synchronous or asynchronous formats. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
Essential Functions- On a part‑time basis, teach assigned undergraduate courses.
- Using best practices, continually evaluate student coursework.
- Review and respond in a timely manner to all University‑related and student communications.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Master's degree (or higher) in Rhetoric and Composition or a closely related field.
- At least one (1) year of teaching experience in a college setting.
- Experience teaching first‑year college writing or developmental writing.
- Ph.D. or ABD in Rhetoric and Composition.
- Experience working with first‑generation and/or non‑traditional students.
